Portopiccolo, 1st – 3rd October
When the sailing passion becomes maxi, even the regatta must adapt! The highly anticipated Portopiccolo Maxi Race, organized by the Portopiccolo Yacht Club, is back from 1st to 3rd October: three days dedicated to ”maxi size” boats that will take part in the Barcolana the following week. The strongest Italian, Slovenian and Croatian sailing teams are ready to compete in the Gulf of Trieste with windward-leeward, triangle and coastal – Bernetti Trophy races. An unmissable event between sailing, glamour and fun.
From Friday to Sunday from 12:30, the Yacht Club of Portopiccolo will open its terrace for a lunch overlooking the regatta. A way to closely follow the three-day challenge between the best sailing teams fighting in the Gulf. Reservations required: firstname.lastname@example.org +39 040 9977711.
A Reichel/Pugh project made in New Zealand. An extremely competitive boat both for the technical characteristics and for the high-profile crew and the organizational structure of the sporting project [length f.t. 27.43 m – width 5.67 m – draft 5 m – mast 38 m].
Behind it, a story full of winning performances. A tradition of victories carried on since 2002, the first year of its debut. After having won over 75 regattas, the crew is ready to achieve the most important goal: Barcolana 2021.
The route is a quadrilateral with fixed vertices positioned in the Gulf of Trieste, with a total length of 13 nautical miles. The departure is set at 10.30 and the line is positioned between Barcola and Miramare; you reach the first buoy, from Boa 2 to Boa 3, off the Miramare Castle, sail for 4 miles, then return to Barcola, along the coast, for 2.3 miles. Off the Faro della Vittoria begins the final phase of the regatta, which leads the crews to the finish: in front of the square of the Unification of Italy.
