This is a country of contrasts, filled with ancient towns and vibrant modern festivals, unspoilt
beaches and thrilling cities. With a friendly culture and some of the world’s finest sailing to enjoy, it’s easy to understand why Croatia is fast becoming one of Europe’s most desirable locations.

The Balkan nation lies just a few hours’ drive from Portopiccolo, south through Slovenia, along the picturesque coastal road. It can also be easily reached by boat, with an array of marinas that make it easy to break up the journey for those who prefer to take their time.

But once you do arrive, you may find it hard to pull yourself away. Croatia’s spectacular coastline can hold your attention for months at a time, with tens of islands to explore, each more beautiful than the last. Perhaps the most famous is Hvar, the sunniest spot in the country and its most luxurious beach destination.

There’s plenty to explore on the mainland too. The cities of Split and Dubrovnik may have recently gained fame for their starring roles in the HBO series Game of Thrones, but their history stretches back millennia. That past is on show at every turn, from Split’s perfectly preserved Roman cathedral to Dubrovnik’s beautiful and historic city walls. And these are living, breathing cities too: both boast a thriving cultural scene, welcoming modern marinas and a nightlife that draws party-goers from across the world.
